3D Ride Models
Below are screenshots of a few 3D CAD models I made using Google Sketch-up 8.
The Ride Vehicle
The finale of Salvation consists of a dark ride where guests escape the horrors of Terminus IV to the safety of the ACC Salvation right before it self destructs. For this I have designed a pretty basic dark ride vehicle. The vehicle holds a maximum of 8 guests and moves along a floor mounted track. The base of the vehicle allows for verticle and horizontal tilting of the vehicle to enhance movement through the ride.

Below is a model of the vehicle passing through scenes in the dark ride. The vehicle has just passed through a door which has closed behind the vehicle.
The FINALE
For the finale of the attraction I needed to come up with a way to simulate the escape pod leaving Terminus IV and travelling through space to the safety of the ACC Salvation. Taking some inspiration from a trick used in Poseidon's Fury (Islands of Adventure), I came up with the following ending:
The vehicle travels into the final room where it becomes surrounded by a dome shaped screen. The video screen shows simulates the escape pod exiting the space station just as it self destructs, the escape pod briefly travels through space (and guests are congratulated by the Engineer character on an on-vehicle video screen. The escape pod is shown to arrive at the ACC Salvation's docking bay. The motion on screen is matched to a tilting motion on the vehicle for further immersion.

A flash of light occurs and the room is plunged into pitch darkness. As the guests sit in darkness (further dazed by the light flash) the screens are lifted up to the ceiling by mechanical arms. The lights return to the room to reveal a physical set of the docking bay. Where guests exit the vehicle and the attraction itself. One emptied, the ride vehicle proceeds through doors to the load area, ready for the next set of guests.
